Divorce… without Marriage
Well, contrary to that poster, it seems that us aspiring billionares have got another thing coming. According to a court case ongoing in Quebec, it would seem that its not unreasonable for a partner in a relationship, not ever having been legally married, to demand a large amount of financial recompense from their former partner.
I bring your attention to this because, in this case, its absurd. Currently, the billionaire husband has provided this for his former love interest (and their 3 children, whom I gather that she has custody of):
- An apartment in Brazil,
- Three cars for the family,
- A $2.4-million mansion on the upper reaches of Outremont,
- $250,000 on nannies, vacations, private schooling and other expenses over the last year.
- $35,000 a month in child support (for a total of $420,000 per year).
So, okay, we’ve established that he’s opulantly wealthy. So, what’s the big deal?

Hitler and Stalin rendevous over the dead body of Poland, and exchange polite remarks: “The scum of the Earth I believe?” – Hitler; “The bloody assassin of the workers, I presume?” – Stalin;
Apparently, it sunk with the Titanic:

Well, that’s one way to remove yourself from the gene pool. But really, it goes to a bit more of a fundamental issue. I’d write about it, but instead, I’ll point you to this article that I read a long time ago:
